As with civilizations evolution can seem like a daunting task to some willing to take on the challenge of growth. This is no different in the enterprise. Any major corporation started from some seedling of a company. As such every aspect of the organization evolved. Whether it be accounting, HR or the manufacturing line, it all grows, changes and adapts to the scale at which the company grows. The same could be said for Technology within that company. The interesting thing is that this growth and evolution occurs without anyone realizing; that is, until it is too late.
With the U.S. Elections underway, positions are being made by politicians attempting to publish their agendas on all sorts of issues. Barack Obama has recently published his own Policy Paper on Technology. As a Technology Professional I have been blogging on this Policy Paper section by Section on my site Surching4Me.com and thought i relevant to let others in the Technology industry in on my own views of this Policy Paper.
If you are interested in seeing what one of the Presidential Candidates has in mind for the future of our industry please take a look. It is quite an interesting read.

Having lost my job to the downturn in the markets this past year, I have struggle to find opportunities that fit my skill set. Some would believe this has to do more with a constriction in the marketplace for technologists. That may be true to some degree, however as I look through the various job boards I do see openings, many openings. These are however, in specialty areas. Areas that require specific certifications and skills. So is the problem that I am more biding my time until the market accepts me, or should I be looking to improve my own situation by modifying my skill set to become what the market is offering? One way of doing this is through certification.

For those who have lived in a closet for the past few months, there has been a mortgage nightmare raping the U.S. Markets and slinking its way around the world. As a result investment banks are not just taking it on the chin, but in the groin as well.
Last week I attended the new ITIL version 2 to version 3 Foundation bridging course. For those who may not be familiar with what this is or do not understand the significance of the course, allow me to explain. Many people have been certified as an IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) professional at one level or another. This past year the ITIL Governing body release a complete re-write of the IT Infrastructure Library in its 3rd version.

For everyone who has been certified as ITIL v2 Foundation and has heard about the new ITIL v3 you may be wondering what that means for your previous certification.

Today is the last day of the itSMF Fusion event. Since this has been my first it has been interesting to see others in my field of work interact. Overall the event was probably larger than I expected in terms of the number of attendees. Facilities were good as was the city of Charlotte, NC.

“They’re Just Not Getting It!” Is often heard in response to trying to explain to someone in an organization who is being told what they need to deliver in the implementation of an ITIL Process deployment. As an IT Service “Do-er” they have often been in a position to develop their own processes and functions simply to get the work done. Whether that work is to restore a broken application, failed server or even replace a coffee drenched keyboard.
IT Service Management has many different views. Many of which revolve around the basic processes and tools required to manage IT more effectively. One Framework that is closely tied to Service Management is that of the IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL).

Charlotte, North Carolina is playing host to the 2007 IT Service Management Forum (itSMF) USA Annual Convention. With over 40 States represented combined with 20+ Countries this year I find myself right smack in the middle of it all.
